happy valentikoy

hola sis :)

not really sure what you're up to today...

but anyway, as we celebrate this over-commercialized, traffic-ridden, exploited romantic-love day, let me remind you of the quote that i know we both live by:

"Plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers."
- Veronica A. Shoffstall

and in honor of this wonderful quote, here's the perfect & cutest webpage for us to start our garden.

happy vd :)

cooking for me

since the hub was away with the boys,

i was able to just focus on myself in the kitchen.

so for lunch, i prepared one of my favorite classics: smoked salmon, capers and dijon.

then, i made a squash gratin that i'm quite proud of.

seasoned only with malunggay pesto, sea salt and parmesan cheese...

it makes for a wonderful healthy & hearty dish.

(and squash is a very low-carb veggie).

flowers

awww. look at what i woke up to this morning.

after 8 (almost 9!!) years, here we are still feeling like this was taken only yesterday.

happy vd!

guess where?

in Megamall!!! its in the new atrium area (which i didn't even know existed), just in front of the new lifts (which take you to the soon-to-rise residences i'm assuming?)...

I say "Shoemart" has come a looong way!

at the West

got (happily) dragged last-minute to the west gallery for an exhibit opening last night....

one of the shows that opened was Mawen Ong's "ifisaysoifyouthinkso"...

its a collection of 10 bright panels of beeswax and resin on wood... i love the colors and the "crayon-like" finish...

clever, don't you think?

the other show that opened "quiescence" was the total opposite, with a series of nostalgic, calm and still monochromatic browns by Erwin Leano.... (but i also quite liked it :)

what really caught my fancy was Felix Bacolor's solar-powered-swaying-flowers (from a previous show called "2010:the year we make contact")... very PVZ (my fave computer game!)...

i want some of these outside my window!!!

january

i can't believe its already febuary! where has the first month of the year gone?!

sorry i've been rather absent here, been busy trying to get back into my routine to kick off a really good year (i am feeling).

so, in a nutshell, these are the things i've kept myself occupied with the past month that i am very thankful for....

1. camping under the blue moon on new year's eve (in a remote island somewhere...)

2. taking luc to the beach for the first time!

3. the sunsets

4. banana pancakes

5. getting back on my regular bike commute (to U.P. mostly... here's what it looks like....pretty eh?)

6. seeing my nepal article published (with one of my photos on the cover!), and reading about the wedding i did in wedding essentials (woot!)

7. going back to sunken garden! (not that i've really stopped going...) this time, trying something new by playing on a slo-pitch (softball) team for the first time...

8. finishing 90% of my ashtanga yoga poses! (will be working to complete it with the headstand soon!!!)

9. finding out i can still swim with my injured arm! (yey!), and hopefully be able to finally fix it :)

10. getting my pots fired!!! (here's a glimpse of some of the pieces i've done....i'll be getting the finished pieces this week!)

11. oh yeah and WORK :) which i am always grateful for :)

looking forward to an even busier febuary! promise to keep you posted here :D
