same old bananas

in light of the same ol' same ol' who won our senatorial race... (okay... photo not too accurate...)

i'd like to juxtapose our situation with the most recent installation at silverlens.

yes, they seem like statesmen perhaps from the lower house?

complete with barongs and masks...

and in the middle of it all are bananas...

and their "holy" leader... hmmmm.......

well, as the artist aptly called it...

same ol', same ol'.

berry cute

i know this show was about to end, and i couldn't let it pass without showing it to you.

it's by a very talented graphic artist/illustrator (i think) named luis lorenzana. it took him 3 years to finish this particular piece.

what i really really like are his drawings (he had more in the booklet).

this is the one i REALLY liked. (sold na though). i know the frame does a lot for it, but i'm loving the drawing, and the fact that the canvas was treated to look aged.

these 2 were the only ones not sold.

now i'm kinda tempted to get them since it's right up my campy/kitschy aesthetic.

but i think i like them only because i REALLY like his drawings.

note: seeds of strawberries are hearts :)

never ending story

i know we've seen this before...  can't remember the artist behind it...

i think silverlens acquired it... and it's so so cool!

from the outside, it looks like a spaceship.

up close, it looks like a bookshelf...

inside, it looks like a never ending book tunnel!

cool!  yun lang :)

maude marie and other curiosities

hey sis :)

checked out pepper roxas' show in silverlens.  they extended it only until the 30th so i didn't wait for you na :(

anyhoo, here it is.  i loved it, as expected.

the whole show revolved around half-kid half-animal images.  very wuzzles.  this is the half crow... this is the one you got to see in the box, remember?

this one's really creative.  it's about a boy who stole a magic potion thingy...  this is the whole installation...

the drawing...

half deer... very 'the shining' donchatink?

mushrooms... hihihi.

half squirrel ?   loving the glass enclosure.

this one's really cute.  half bird with blue eggs.

half giant squid...

outside 20square was the show of hanna pettyjohn.  wow!  what a talent!

this i liked... i thought it was such a random american scene... and it had a 'love' billboard on it  :)

then i realized after that the show IS called 'the american sweet' -- haha!

yun lang :)  see you soon!

SLab +

hey sis,

dropped by silverlens gallery's new extension, SLab (Silverlens Lab) which showcases paintings, drawings and sculpture.

the pilot show is by genius patty eustaquio.  (she makes fab dresses -- but i think is ultimately a super smart and talented artist.  she graduated magna cum laude from UP fine arts!)

title of show:  death to the major viva minor.

her works are commentary to JS Bach's piano exercise 'the well tempered clavier'... i can't really articulate how the whole show works... but anyway, here are the paintings and sculptures...

within SLab is 20Square, a smaller space for projects, consignments, etc.

in this space were the works of mariano ching, one of my faves.  he loves to draw wierd images with hairy monsters, rainbows and other unrelated knick knacks.

isa does it again!  what a super duper space.

SLab is right across silverlens.

silverlens' show was isa's 3rd called 'the moro negatives' -- cool layered images from the south.

Slab and silverlens is connected by a bridge they built.

reminds me of the connecting houses of my idol frida khalo and her husband diego rivera.

(frida's is the blue one).
