cool twinpoplolos and twinpoplolas

How cool is this???

Got this via facebook from twinpopniece...

Here are some bits of research I found while trying to build our Family Tree. This info is all about the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of Lola Aging Sumulong/Lolo Tony Reyes/Lolo Achie Reyes:

- Gervasia de Guzman, the ispiration for Severino Reyes' Lola Basyang series, was actually the mother of his "balae" Crispulo Zamora.

- Crispulo Zamora was an eminent engraver and silversmith and considered a hero for his work in producing insignias for the revolutionary government of General Emilio Aguinaldo.

- Pelagia Mendoza, wife of Crispulo Zamora, a sculptor, was the first female art student of the Academia de Dibujo y Pintura in the 19th century. She won the 1892 Columbus Quadricentennial Art Contest with a bust of Christopher Columbus.

- Severino Reyes was a famous author, recognized as the "Father of the Philippine Zarzuela" and was the first publisher of the weekly literay magazine "Liwayway"

- Lolo Ciso or Narciso Reyes was in the first batch graduates of the UP School of Fine Arts in 1914. The graduating class consisted of Fernando Amorsolo, painting; Tomas Cullel, engraving; Doroteo Abaya, painting, Horacio Reyes, sculpture; Narciso Reyes, painting; Domingo Celis, painting.

The Family Tree is still a work in progress. If you'd like to help contribute and get further updates, do send me a message with your email/contact details.

the post-it

did you know that the first "sticky note" was used in 1945 by a guy who worked in the post office? who made stacks of square paper with glue to leave notes around? but he never really commercialized his idea. so it was later on, in 1977 when 3M first introduced post-its - invented by Art Fry; the adhesive was invented by Spencer Silver (no, it wasn't Romi and Michelle, hehe). and now post-its have come a looong way... watch this post-it art project....

soooo cooool! (and soooo tiyaga!!!)

here's how they made it....

now i want to buy post-its and make wall art. haha!
