comelentek

nothing irks me more than when the government brings in scripture and the koran to defend an immoral decision.

as per pat evangelista,

On November 11, Ferrer denied the petition of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group “Ang Ladlad” for recognition as a sectoral party under the partylist system.

which means basically...

Along with Commissioners Luencito Tagle and Elias Yusoph, Ferrer presided over a decision that declared homosexuality a state that offended religious morality, and announced it the Comelec’s duty “to protect the youth from moral and spiritual degradation.”

as she poignantly demonstrates...

Take out your children from Ateneo; Danton Remoto might turn them gay.

Pull out your subscription from the Inquirer; Manolo Quezon might kill their spirituality.

can you imagine telling our bffs

that they are:

dangerous to the youth:

that [they] deserve less than anyone else,

that they are the other, to be shunned and condemned, deserving of every discriminatory act they have fought against since they started stepping out of dark closets.

sad times, indeed...

errport 3

it took us 30 minutes to get into our airport... lining up in this chaotic queue in the heat...

in another long queue, we had to pay P550 for the fee -- a bit much for such a crappily run airport, i thought.

and then of course, we get to this...

clean, simple and super convenient... (think flying from the flintstones to the jetsons)

with the convenience of checking-in in a mall!

and in the meantime, we've had this for quite some time... sadly, everyone has just learned to live with our underutilized overspent airport...

i've never enjoyed griping about our own country... but the crazy queues in the airport just got to me!

laban!

last sunday, on our way to mom's house from church, we got caught by mmda on temple drive because we had no seatbelt on...

i first explained that our house was less than 5 minutes away... didn't work.

so i said, well then bill me... i demanded for a, in my words, "resibo".

after a back-and-forth of how much and why (he wanted to charge me P500 --double what was due -- hello!?!), i finally gave him the right amount (when i insisted to see the chart of fines), P250 which was for 1st offence no-seatbelt.

naive me handed him the money as requested -- (i thought i could pay right there) -- and only realized i was bribing him when he freaked out when i nonchalantly handed him the bills, for all to see. "maam, wag ganyan makikita tayo!"

i didn't react quickly and we just sped off.

when i came to my senses, i realized that i double paid! we were ticketed na nga for P250, then i paid him pa P250.

my mistake, really. intentions were good... but a little too dumb for the corrupt system haha!

here's the legit payment we made through metrobank today...

grrr...

so in the light of cory's death, i really feel that our generation, those of us who were conscious in '86, failed miserably.

corruption is still extremely tolerated!

i hope her death brings on a new sense of idealism for the younger generations... because god knows so many of us are jaded.

but still, we forge on. here's to messy bessy, and pedala,.. and all the things we do for "our people"...

laban!

misunderstood animals

twinpopfren alias "singapore-salsa" just narrated to me how she got a swine flu swab test in singapore (result: negative) -- with FREE service from head-to-toe-covered doctors and even taxi drivers!

which got me thinking...

poor swines.

why is it called swine flu anyway?

swine flu is believed to have started in a big american swine farm in mexico -- a farm that was full of poo, sicknesses and chemicals.

so really, it should be called: 'negligent and unhygeinic greedy farmer' flu.

even bird flu.

it should be called 'people who cage and don't clean bird poop' flu.

and yes, mad cow disease.

it should be: 'immoral desperate people who feed ground human bones to vegetarian cows' disease

let's stop funding the pharmaceuticals and start doing things properly :)

yun lang :)

red, red tape

hey sis...

i've been an absentee...

here's why:

bureaucracy!

things i'm taking care of:

1. bfad permit which means:

- approved site layout (line up for approval in alabang, every monday morning ONLY)
- answer 7 pages of questions
- cv's from each employee
- procedure for each product
- data sheet of each ingredient from each supplier
- etc., etc., etc.

2. sss registration

3. philhealth registration

4. pag-ibig registration

5. denr clearance

6. laguna lake sumthn sumthn permit

7. oh and i have to call the BIR hotline to figure out what i need to do with them

wtf.

when i'm finally done with this mess, i will definitely lobby (to politician friends -- what politician friends?)  to make things easier for us lowly entrepreneurs.

can it be any harder for anyone who wants to generate income and employ people?

this red tape has got to end.

just say yes, please!

twinpophub and i had an impromptu date in antonio's breakfast (which was now moved to the main antonio's).

i'm loving the new design of the place!  i'm really impressed with his aesthetic.

what i DIDN'T love is the fact that they

(1) didn't want to accept reservations for breakfast, and at the same time,

they (2) didn't want us to sit in the main antonio's gallery but order breakfast.

The worst thing is, they (3) didn't want to seat us in the breakfast area because they said there was no space...

even if clearly there were so many empty tables, just not tables for 2.  wtf?

anyway, we insisted... i said i didn't mind staying in a table for 5... but they didn't want to seat us there. so they in the end they reluctantly set up a table for 2 -- kinda off to the side by the kitchen...  and the whole time we ate, the big tables were empty.  absurd, don't you think?

but anyway, we didn't really get mad or anything... i wanted to enjoy our little date, and my triple spinach omelette.

anyway, back to the good stuff....

i thought the interiors reminded me of the foreign correspondents club... i haven't been to many, but it reminded me of the one in seam reap.

i really love that colonial look, with dark shutters and white walls.  yun lang :)

errport 2

still on design...

the facade of our (not so) newest airport terminal 3 is as good as it gets...

inside is a complete bore...

couldn't we have done something as cool as singapore's?

or interesting as KL's?

or as timeless as Paris's?

after all that time and money, (and since we're so proud of our creativity), this is all we could come up with?

something with more design aesthetic like even greenbelt or trinoma would have been better than this...

disappointed.......
