b&w bedroom

i'm writing this on our new desk: the piece that finishes our bedroom project.

isn't the desk pretty? it's by kenneth cobonpue.

anyway, remember our inspiration?

here's how we interpreted it...

and here are a few of my fave details...

my bedside b&w photo of pops.

some serene drawings...

my siopao...

your paris photos :)

a little vignette...

still a li'l work to be done. but i think we did pretty good...

...until we will make changes to add this.

his & hers design

over a span of a few months, i've unknowingly been kicked out of my home office...

the hub is now slowly building his new small home theater...

and so i'm moving next door...

...inspired by a recent purchase:

"the selby", a book based on the successful website,

essentially a site/book that features homes of all these super cool famous and not-so-famous people in a really cool way...

here's a look inside:

from which i took inspiration from for our new altar in my new room:

the rest of the room, though, needs more help.

help!

back to the selby, i think you'll really like it.

check out the website:

girly-girl bedroom

i know you've seen this a thousand times...

but this IS my first bedroom project.

saw it recently, and until now, it still makes me proud.

so here's a walk through of what i did...

the focal point is the bed... with a custom-made apple green tufted headboard, and a patterned bed cover...

the side table has a box-pleated cover made from a dark teal vintage fabric that belonged to her grandfather.

the reading chair is a recycled club chair ;) reupholstered with a printed teal fabric.

the drapes are layered lace fabrics...

and the curtain ties i made from elongated rings i got from divi :)

across the bed is an ilocano dresser painted in metallic silver... and matched with a plastic green stool.

beside it, a vignette that includes 3 hat boxes from kish.

overall, it was a pretty successful project. not expensive at all, and continues to make the "client" happy.

i hope i get a next project :)

foodeedoo2

i wasn't going to snap a photo of this, but the hub insisted that i blog this since it was, in his words "excellent".

meet my grilled chicken garlic-pesto panini with onions in multi-grain bread (as inspired by his fave chixmosa sandwich from terry's).

naks.

queen of the kitchen

just wanted to share how i fared on my first night as queen of the kitchen...

here's my dinner: garlicky spinach (although i should have called it salty spinach -- hwe hwe -- watch out i might be bloated tomorrow).

for the mister, it's spicy grilled salmon kebabs... he liked it!

i even improvised and added his fave japanese chili oil to the rub.

not bad at all... good things always come out of bad ones, i guess.

besa me mucho

been sprucin' up the house with these cool stuffs...

first, these wall decals given by twinpopsisinlaw...

perfect since i want people to dump their stuffs here before entering the living room. (these are right under the bag hooks -- "so dump your bags and gifts at the door, please")

this red chair looks pretty against wall don'tchatink?

and notice the birds. *chirp*.

i also saw some of astrud's folk artsy stuff (that she buys from all over the world) in a bazaar last weekend...

bought lotsa little day-of-the-dead mexican stuffs...

first: (yup, my idol) frieda khalo's "tomb" complete with all the traditional offerings.

second: this set (all by one artist) that i plan to hang all in one wall, in (kinda) this way:

a female skull:

"besa me mucho"...

"2 cabezas valen mas que una"... (two heads are better than one...)

and my fave, "la historia de un amor"...

they fall in love,

then marry...

then have a bebe...

then... *sniff*...

she has lotsa more folksy stuff (daw) in her store. let's go!!!
