officeses

hiya sis!

speaking of cool digs, missed you at twinpopfriend's office party :)

believe it or not, this IS the office...

it's an ad agency... so the vibe is so creative...

they have a no-owned-work-stations-&-work-from-any-spot-you-want arrangement...

and the place is so swanky you'd really think it's a cool lounge!

to top it all off, they have a 'zen' room for anyone to destress...

now doesn't that office make every other office seem so uncool?

perhaps not as cool, but just in time, i've finally finished up our home office with the new 'recycled wood' shelves...

i thought the red plaid chair would match the look... (and flower too hihi)

painted the walls a dark charcoal...

and my fire engine red drawers fit in quite well too, i think :)

will install a dvd player, so we can hang here... come over soon :)

not to be outdone (hehe), spruced up our office with this... a parol made of rubber from rubber slippers.

it was actually given by one of the messy bessitas... awww *touched*.

yun lang.

happy surfing! (only on the web for me har har)

nomnomnom

what i love about QC is that it never runs out of "cool digs" and charming little holes-in-the-wall.

nomnomnom is one of those places.... i love the light green trees painted on the pale yellow walls....

the painted flowers on the cement floor....

the pillow corner...

the birdcage themed lamps *chirp*

and the frames on the wall...

the spinach enchilada was quite good too - just a little bit too much cheese coming from a detox week - haha:)

btw, i was there to see a friend's exhibit called "thumbeline and the pink skulls"...

here's thumbeline... illustrations from a book....

and here are the pink skulls on a bamboo deck....

kewl :)

i miss knitting!

i can't believe that this is probably the first post i have on knitting! i used to be addicted to it (way before i started spending too much time on my laptop!!!), and actually really miss it :) its so much more productive that staring at the computer screen, looking into other people's business on facebook. haha. and its kinda meditative too...

so here is my first finished project in a very LONG time - a yellow knit "fake-a-gamo" bag....

its a pattern inspired by a knit ferragamo bag that came out a few years ago....

i knit my version in yellow with dark brown wooden handles... should i paint the handles silver instead? hehe....

sinless bliss

i've been dreaming of this since the first time i tasted it...

CAKE BATTER flavored yogurt! (and you know how i love any dough-flavored anything!)

just 100 calories and FAT FREE! sweet and yummy... hits your ice-cream-craving spot... without the eater's remorse!

will take you there soonest!

channeling lola pelagia

now that my schedule has somewhat normalized (for a while), i've gone back to pottery class! and i'm now starting to work on the wheel...

here i am channeling lola pelagia...haha!...

and here are the small pieces i've made in the first two sessions...

what i love about going to pottery class, aside from really getting down and dirty with my hands, is the walk from my car to the workshop. it always makes me wish i had studied here....

the row of sculptures along the path...

the human wire figures and the big yellow door to the high-ceiling painting classrooms...

the creatures hanging on the trees...

the quirky chairs by the locker area...

comelentek

nothing irks me more than when the government brings in scripture and the koran to defend an immoral decision.

as per pat evangelista,

On November 11, Ferrer denied the petition of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group “Ang Ladlad” for recognition as a sectoral party under the partylist system.

which means basically...

Along with Commissioners Luencito Tagle and Elias Yusoph, Ferrer presided over a decision that declared homosexuality a state that offended religious morality, and announced it the Comelec’s duty “to protect the youth from moral and spiritual degradation.”

as she poignantly demonstrates...

Take out your children from Ateneo; Danton Remoto might turn them gay.

Pull out your subscription from the Inquirer; Manolo Quezon might kill their spirituality.

can you imagine telling our bffs

that they are:

dangerous to the youth:

that [they] deserve less than anyone else,

that they are the other, to be shunned and condemned, deserving of every discriminatory act they have fought against since they started stepping out of dark closets.

sad times, indeed...

in the presence of greatness

this week, i spent a lot of time taking in from the experts...

first from ashoka VP oliver kayser.

ashoka is a network and fund for the world's best social entrepreneurs.

beside oliver is one of ayala's head honchos (since they were the ones who brought him in).

i expected more from the small roundtable, honestly. i guess since i've read up so much on this field, i know a lot about it already. *nerd*

so the afternoon was more of a reassurance than a new lesson learned. (although i did learn that poland's gov't had good stuff we could learn from... more about that later...)

i also attended the 'creativity' anniversary talk at SLAB by my idol, gilda cordero.

she started the discussion with an activity with a table we were supposed to think of as something else...

here were some of the ideas...

a kariton...

a jeepney...

an insufficient shelter from the rain...

(guy underneath is an ADB head honcho)

(his wife makes things from trash... like this necklace she made from casette tapes, plastic blob from factories, etc... but more on her another time...)

kate used it as a stage and sang 'usahay' beautifully...

massage 'table'...

the rest of the talk was a discussion facilitated by the-1-billion-peso-science-museum-in-the-fort curator maribel garcia (more on her later)...

there was a lot of discussion... but to tell you the truth, i really would have rather heard more from the goddess.

but a little bird told me she was tired... i mean she is 79... but her spirit is definitely younger than all of ours.

anyway it's an honor just the same to be among all these greats.
