precious finds

why did i only discover this now?

it's shu uemura's mousse-slash-sunblock (spf17)-slash-foundation-base.

since i've been a "phan", i've been crazy about make-up. (nagdadalaga).

and here is a perfect everyday sunblock/foundation that's very light on the skin... no shine at all!!!

it can also be used as a primer for more serious make-up.

maybe i should make a video ala-phan haha! who knew?

manira, manira

i've been meaning to share this with you...

it's a japanese magazine in manila, about manila...

here's an mrt/lrt station on the cover...

here's the train map...

some showbiz news (sarah geronimo)...

maps... the photo's blurred but the map highlights japanese brands like pepper lunch and papa beard...

pretty cool to see our city in other people's eyes...

if you can't wait, get protected.

wow wow wow...

many thanks to wanggo! what an inspiration...

all of us can't get over his story, and most of all his courage to speak out...

he shared with us practical wisdom (like latex is better than rubber... water-based (or spit) better than oil-based...)...

and more profound wisdom too.

i also liked how he stressed on the value of waiting...

i'm not sure if he'll ever realize what impact he has made... and how he probably saved lives just by sharing an hour with us...

thank you, thank you, thank you!

condoms save lives... nuff said. (sorry, il papa).

angry little asian girl

let me start the day with something sweet and endearing...

mwahahaha! thanks to ever-helpful-friend for sharing this with me.

check out the merch here too! now i want!

turn around, bright eyes!

....there's nothing i can do, the solar eclipse of the heart.....hehehe :)

i'm sure everyone sang this song at some point today - while watching a phenomenon that does not happen very often. i remember though watching an eclipse through a negative film when we were kids, from mom and dad's balcony. do you remember that?

although today, we could only see a partial eclipse from manila, i went out into the terrace anyway, several times between 8:30am to 10:30am, armed with my cycling shades and my broken clavicle xray.

i tried to take a photo early into the eclipse, but all i got was a spot of light. haha. boo.

i decided to give it another try (after adjusting the camera several times) and got these towards the end of the eclipse... pretty cool i thought :)

but then i saw geekshowman's photo... (he's the one who told me about the eclipse, reminded me to see it, and helped me with the camera adjustments)...

my camera's zoom sucks! haha :) glad i saw it live though, and that i have a geeky friend :) hehe

monday

it was a perfect way to start my week! yoga at 6am, start work by 8am... and then off to pottery class at 2pm! inspired by your earth therapy.... i finally found a class to do this year :)

here's the workshop at the UP college of fine arts. i love the super high ceiling, the big space and all that light that comes in (even on rainy days).

it has a lot of interesting pieces made by the students there. this one caught my eye right away - a fish sculpture from a materials class, made mostly of spoons forks and knives :)

here's my little workspace... where i decided to make a leaf plate patterned after a real leaf i found outside, all by hand-building....

i "pinched" a lotus flower bowl to go on top of it...

and made this little bird by hand, so it could perch on the leaf....

tadah!!! here's my leaf sushi plate, with a lotus flower bowl for the soy sauce, and a little bird where you could rest your chopsticks on :)

i'm leaving it to dry so i can glaze it and fire it in a few weeks :) can't wait for my next class....hmmm.... so many ideas, so little time....

best monday ever. haha!

the big reveal!

i'm finally done with my project!

here's the 'before':

the bathroom...

this is the focal point of the room... so the new room had to double as a movie room, and a hotel-like guest room (oh and a multi-bed grandkid's room)...

these were my key pieces. they were my absolute favorite pieces in the room...

the plan...

and here's the 'after':

this daybed is both a queen-sized bed, and a comfy couch for the projector... there's a pull-out under too.

the sofa is the old one but redone in different fabric... the ottoman i bought and reupholstered too... it opens to a bed too!

i cut the desk shorter... and converted it to a dresser/desk...

we neatened up the screen area, and added some gold baskets for the entertainment center.

the whole room...

the bathroom was expanded...

we used the other end of the desk for the sink... plus added new mirrors...

amenities ala-hotel...

and a chandelier for the throne...

yun lang :) like it?

eartherapy

yesterday, we had our first session of art therapy...

we use clay, as it is the most primal form... and it will ground anyone who does it.

activity #1: make a doll kinda equated to a mom/guardian.

it was quite a transformative experience, believe it or not...

guess which mine is?

yoga at the dojo

i've been feeling very "om" lately (as zaza would put it).... i'm on my second week of yoga class, and loving it. finally, i am able to really enjoy the quiet time, the meditation and focus, and of course, all the stretching and ab workout in the morning :) such a contrast from all the running around i do most of the time. who would've thought?

and who would've thought that there is a "tree house haven in the middle of one of the busiest districts in the city"?

i love the tatami mat flooring...

and the resident cat...

but most of all, my teacher jen (i want her cuts!)

hanging after class :)

can't wait to go to my next session :) i'm quite the yoga class geek (as you can imagine!). haha :)

secret store

discovered this really cool second hand store... the girls there claim things are from italy.

not really sure... but nevertheless they have a lot of really nice pieces.

they have the usual frenchy items... like these tassled chairs...

but of course, i'm drawn to the midcentury pieces...

like these side tables with gold legs...

cool sofa and floor lamp...

green plastic chair...

i love this console. we're eyeing it. the inside is pink with mirrors! should have taken a photo.

more cool chairs...

lamps, lamps, lamps!

i'm waiting for them to text me how much this is...

wanna go?? :)
