finalizing the name... here are my choices with logo pegs.

eclipse

i can't believe i missed this....

it happened yesterday sometime between 4:55pm-5:55pm (as i just walked into a movie theater - grrr!), but apparently the skies were also too cloudy and the sun had set while still in mid-eclipse.

our next chance is on july 22 - total solar eclipse!

happy weekend

i had my first crack in entertaining guests in baguio...  what a joy :)

first night --  upon arriving, dinner by candle light...

for dessert:  fresh baguio strawberries (so big right?  and sweet too.  only P100 a kilo) + whipped cream + vargas butter cake = perfect makeshift strawberry shortcake!

barbecue on the second day...

complete with grilled corn!

night cap: hot chocolate under the stars.

yun lang :)   see ya.

where in the world is flower

where am i?

parang greece ba?

well, i'm in la union. hwe hwe hwe hwe.

this new resort called thurnderbird in poro point, la union -- one-hour drive from baguio + overlooking the south china sea.

it currently has a 9-hole golf course and a casino nearby.... other than that -- nothing really much to do.

maybe surf?  naks.

"cool dive"

twinpop-y and i went to a "cool dive" (love her term - haha!) last night. it was "wednesday nights at green papaya" - at their new spot in kamuning....

cool dive nga! here's a view from the outside seating....

inside out view....

(and they serve beer too!)

we arrived a bit late and just caught the tail end of Veejay Villafranca's talk about his photojournalistic work on BASECO (pristine white sand property that was supposed to be turned into a resort but ended up a slum area, a natural juxtaposition ikanga). was really intrigued by it so i checked out his site when i got home... very moving photos! loved his other work too.

after that and a beer break, there was a discusssion on deck art- quite interesting as a lot of my friends are now into skateboards and longboards.

loved this alien ice cream one...

then there was a video art presentation - which made me realize i don't really know what video art is... i don't really quite "get" most of the videos. hehe.

other stuff around the gallery...

cordero drawings...

creepy, "dead-like" photos bound and waxed together...

discovered another cool dive across the street on our way out... a kitschy "kafebaresto" with all red interiors, chandelier and midget paper mache santas...

kewl? :)

obamarama

staying up all night to watch the inauguration (and then waking up to continue watching the inaugural balls and other celebrations), i kept thinking i want some obama memorabilia!!! a simple "yes we can" button or maybe even a t-shirt....

but now it seems that even the fashion industry has caught up to the obamarama (and i may want more than just a t-shirt....)

diane von furstenburg bag

from Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's spring 2009 collection at the Paris (yes Paris!) fashion week....
(check out the fingerless "yes" and "no" gloves)

(for you...since "you have a dream" too - hehe)

even the Urban Outfitters mail had a cool graphic this week...

exxaaggg!

i have a dream

inspired by this book

i'm hoping to put up 'manang becky' or something like that.

a cheaper line of messy bessy -- so that green and healthier cleaning can reach out to more people, and so that more opportunities (through direct selling) can be offered to those who need it.

hmmm who should she be?

(some of) my other dreams for our city's depressed areas...

- container gardens (fruits & veggies & other crops grown from containers)

- "the toolshed" (a company that recycles old materials to mass-produce high-design furniture for all)

- non-traditional universities for all (non-traditional learning centers where people can get their high school / college diplomas / professional degrees without having to step into classrooms)

yun lang :)

mangenguey

omg... i WILL go to this place (click this!!!!).

(how to pronounce?)

Carlos Celdran talked about it here...

and now i wanna go.

let's go!!!

in feb? with salsas?  with fam?

bye-bye, bush!

In a few hours, many will be cheering for the new US president.

Many, still, will say that the hype is too much, and the expectations too high...  Perhaps...

I still want to say this, though...

Bye-bye to the careless, crazy and highly divisive idea of the "axis of evil".

(The speech when this concept was introduced in the 2002 state-of-the-union-address, is regarded by many critics as one of the WORST US-presidential speeches of ALL time)

Bye-bye to wars that were not only unsanctioned by the U.N., but also carelessly executed...

(enough to prolooooong an UNFOUNDED war that has led to:

over 68,000 deaths... and counting....
590 TRILLION dollars in war-spending... and counting....

and to the looting or destruction of ancient cradle-of-civilization archives and objects from libraries & museums!!!)

Bye-bye to the passe pro-laissez faire economic policies that affects us all.

There are more (not signing Kyoto protocol, the oil-y allies, etc etc.), but these 3 top my list.

yun lang :)

last day

on our last day in tokyo, we decided to be a little bit more touristy and visited the (relatively) new contemporary arts museum at the roponggi hills.

the exhibition was by indian artists...

people watching the video installation...

the view from on top of the museum (which was on a tower)...

and a cool spider sculpture below...

domo arigato gozaimasu!

crabby

you know i LOVE crab.  so i was so happy to find this 5-storey resto in osaka.

they have different kinds of crab, and different ways to cook it.

and they also have hello kitty as a crab. hihihihihi
