fascinator

just wanted to show you my last "project" for the year - made this headpiece for my friend's wedding two days ago :) its a fascinator made of ostrich feathers, synthetic feathers, sequins, beads, tulle and fabric from her gown. i finished it just the day before the wedding and was felling a bit nervous at first but was quite happy at how it turned out :)

happy new year sis :) can't wait til you get back!

remembering christmas

hiya sis.

before Christmas was about the obligatory shopping,

i warmly remember how it was back in the day...

with our cute plush ornaments (do we still have those???)

our personalized felt stockings...

our fresh pine tree...

and tinsel on it...

and this song in the background (on repeat) now sung by my favorite choir...

forward march!

hey sis :)

we've been quiet and i shall blame it on the christmas rush.

but anyway, managed to steal some shots of the new burgos circle at the fort... (although just using my phone)...

what a new, perty area. it's where our fave cafe juanita is, and it's really such a beautiful addition to the city.

little pockets of development like this one really makes me happy, and affirms my belief that we are, slowly but surely, moving forward as a country.

which is why i agree with carlos whose FB status was:

Haynako. Negastar Jim Paredes thinks we're doomed. He's really a good guy for sure but why is he SUCH a turn off lately? I wonder if I'm alone in thinking this.

carlos is not alone. i'm with him.

jim wrote this nega article about our country.

after reading it, i (although outside of my character) responded to carlos by saying:
carlos, i think the reason why we don't get this article is because people like you (!) and me (?) are already doing (in our own ways) what he "calls" us to do in the last paragraph -- dreaming, acting, engaging, inspiring. "being a passive player in gma's dream" is a silly thought, and perhaps almost equal to bickering and whining about the country.

sometimes, i feel like it's OUTLOOK that divides our political landscape.

one side looks at our country with despair, and believes that the logical way to go is to vote the cleanest albeit not-the-sharpest-tool-in-the-toolbox.

another side looks at it with crazy optimism -- and recognizes that we, despite all the crap, are moving forward, hence choosing the smartest believing that we need not kill too many fires but instead plant seeds.

watjatink of my theory?

besa me mucho

been sprucin' up the house with these cool stuffs...

first, these wall decals given by twinpopsisinlaw...

perfect since i want people to dump their stuffs here before entering the living room. (these are right under the bag hooks -- "so dump your bags and gifts at the door, please")

this red chair looks pretty against wall don'tchatink?

and notice the birds. *chirp*.

i also saw some of astrud's folk artsy stuff (that she buys from all over the world) in a bazaar last weekend...

bought lotsa little day-of-the-dead mexican stuffs...

first: (yup, my idol) frieda khalo's "tomb" complete with all the traditional offerings.

second: this set (all by one artist) that i plan to hang all in one wall, in (kinda) this way:

a female skull:

"besa me mucho"...

"2 cabezas valen mas que una"... (two heads are better than one...)

and my fave, "la historia de un amor"...

they fall in love,

then marry...

then have a bebe...

then... *sniff*...

she has lotsa more folksy stuff (daw) in her store. let's go!!!

reiki

a week ago, (inspired by twinpopbro), i had a reiki session.

reiki is a traditional japanese technique of stress reduction, relaxation and healing...

you basically lie down for a good 45 minutes while the healer scans and balances your chakras...

the healer we went to uses a lot of crystals...

here's twinpopbro having the 'treatment'...

this is the house where it's done...

the front door...

don't cha love the vibe?

at the end of the treatment, she gives you a crystal bracelet, if needed, pertaining to your depleted or blocked chakra...

here's my amethyst for my blocked sacral chakra...

ohmmm....
