flip, flop, filipino

a few nights ago, i received these special filipinas collection havaianas:

it was the company's way of honoring "filipino icons who inspire other filipinos." *touched*

speaking of filipino, i just remembered sharing with you our independence-day dvd-day that you missed.

although the movie was japanese, the snacks were all pinoy.

even the remote control was "themed"

the theme went on until merienda time...

with matching chismosa palengkera doll.

art for dinner

speaking of art, here's a fantastic art-themed dinner that twinpopbro went to.... I LOVE IT!

the invites were sent a month ahead so you had enough time to think of your costumes...

and here is the carefully planned menu which didn't only look good but looked like it tasted really good too....

the host painted 10x14 canvasses to be used as placemats (arranged like the colorwheel) and made little cardboard easels for placecards...

course 01: van gogh appetizer (van gogh's sunflower made of uni mousse and fish roe)

course 02: warhol soup (cream of portobello with warhol himself- haha)

course 03: picasso salad (in a puff ball)

course 04: rothko fish (soupe de poissons en gelee with a rouille on one end)

course 05: mondrian meat (seared striploin steak over a red pepper coulis and a side of roasted potatoes in duck fat)

course 06: pollock dessert (vanilla bean and lemon rind flavored panna cotta drizzled with dark chocolate ganache and an orange syrup)

the placemats doubled as thank you cards that guests brought home

clever!!!
