obamarama

staying up all night to watch the inauguration (and then waking up to continue watching the inaugural balls and other celebrations), i kept thinking i want some obama memorabilia!!! a simple "yes we can" button or maybe even a t-shirt....

but now it seems that even the fashion industry has caught up to the obamarama (and i may want more than just a t-shirt....)

diane von furstenburg bag

from Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's spring 2009 collection at the Paris (yes Paris!) fashion week....
(check out the fingerless "yes" and "no" gloves)

(for you...since "you have a dream" too - hehe)

even the Urban Outfitters mail had a cool graphic this week...

bye-bye, bush!

In a few hours, many will be cheering for the new US president.

Many, still, will say that the hype is too much, and the expectations too high...  Perhaps...

I still want to say this, though...

Bye-bye to the careless, crazy and highly divisive idea of the "axis of evil".

(The speech when this concept was introduced in the 2002 state-of-the-union-address, is regarded by many critics as one of the WORST US-presidential speeches of ALL time)

Bye-bye to wars that were not only unsanctioned by the U.N., but also carelessly executed...

(enough to prolooooong an UNFOUNDED war that has led to:

over 68,000 deaths... and counting....
590 TRILLION dollars in war-spending... and counting....

and to the looting or destruction of ancient cradle-of-civilization archives and objects from libraries & museums!!!)

Bye-bye to the passe pro-laissez faire economic policies that affects us all.

There are more (not signing Kyoto protocol, the oil-y allies, etc etc.), but these 3 top my list.

yun lang :)

jojobama

are you kidding me?

"Philippine Daily Inquirer, INQUIRER.net  11/12/2008

MANILA, Philippines—Jejomar “Jojo” Binay is embarking on an audacious journey from the “Republic of Makati” to the Republic of the Philippines as the country’s very own “Jojo Bama”—much like US President-elect Barack Obama...

...More than 2,000 supporters, some trucked in from the provinces, carried streamers that read “Obama of the Philippines” and “Jojo Binay for President” as they gathered at the Makati City Hall for a 7 a.m. thanksgiving Mass on Binay’s 66th birthday...

...Clad in barong, the diminutive mayor likened to Obama for his dark skin said he accepted the people’s clamor “all over the Philippines” for him to continue serving the country...

...Reacting to jokes that Binay will be the first black Pinoy chief executive, much like the US president-elect, Estrada said laughing, “Already, we call him Jojo Bama...”

We just don't get it do we?

tidbits of absurdity

(1) twinpopyale has chosen to forward me what she called a 'wtf' email.

this girl, who came out on tyra, is auctioning off her virginity.  yup -- wtf.

read more about it here.

(2) twinpopyale also forwarded this article about how the philippines was found to be one of those not elated with obama's win.  other countries:  laos, cambodia.  talo pa tayo ng iran.

read more about it here.

(3) lastly, i had a short spat with a right-winged fundamentalist american on you tube.  i was watching a clip of the oprah show right after the win.

then i read this comment by a certain memama2:

this flim flam MAN! never told the truth, from day ONE! and this women is a promoter of a Satanic Driven new age religion...go to Stushie.wordpress to see the lies and partial verses, Eckhart Tolle trys to TWIST to promote a doctrine of dogma....that will NEVER replace Holy Scripture. Truth matters, and with the Internet, we have the ability to FIND the fibs and fairy tales of these lying gurus. Also the other YouTube: Marianne Williamson Movie One lets us see, the OTHER demon channeler OUTED

to which i replied:

memama2,

"judge not and you shall not be judged" - luke6:37

to which she replied:

this mis-quoted out of context verse comforts the new agers and makes them think they can believe anything....the Bible is FILLED with things we are to JUDGE: false doctrines....false teachers....false miracles....false christs.......false prophets.....and false Conduct.....this Oprah, Eckahrt and her other gurus , do NOT do! They can't TEACH anyone anything as they THEMSELVES do NOT know right from wrong! They think "unity" trumps "truth" TODAY. It does not. Judging is NEEDED and TRUTH MATTERS

to which i then replied:

"they THEMSELVES do NOT know right from wrong!" -memama2.... and perhaps neither do you.

to which she, a few hours later, replied:

kreeepeeee......"judge NOT, lest ye be judged!"....YOU WANT TO STOP ME FROM GIVING A WARNING?...Oprah has MISSED THE MARK:...so well discussed in the Scripture she now dismisses and mocks. YOU DO NOT WANT any warning? or a way to FIND the false lies of this evil cult? Its here.... on YouTubes: The Gospel According To Oprahs Friends and Marianne Williamson Movie One wish you would consider the truth in each one.....and see how the world is being deceived.......

that was it... didn't reply anymore.  there were so many other conversations going on that it was pointless.

silly, silly, silly.

yes we can!

yes!  this deserves two posts...

i love it that america is finally color-blind (well, sort of  -- less than half of white american voters voted for obama... but then again, the white americans don't define america).

i love it how love will know no gender (gay marriage).

i love it how so many feel so hopeful, optimistic and inspired despite the times.

i love it that america, for the next 4 years, will not label any country as 'evil', and won't ever see war as a key primary solution to terrorism or anything else.

i love it that the ultra-conservative, church-is-state-thinking, divisive right was told, even just for a while, that the majority's thoughts are not with theirs.

haaaaaaay.  i am so happy.

lemme end this with one of my favorite campaign vids -- this showed early on how poetic the PRESIDENT is.

thank you, america!!!

before we forget...

how special today is...

YEY!!! one of the few moments i actually would be proud to be an american (if i was american - hehe). i cried when i watched grant park in chicago (and when i saw oprah crying too - haha).

change we (they) need! yes we (they) can!

thank god its over...

for the record, i would've voted for barack, not because he was black, but because of what he stood for :) it just so happened he was black. i thought john mccain was very, very gracious in defeat, gave a great speech and really showed he is a true patriot. (and i still hate palin - hehe)

for jaims

hey sis,

found this on the net.  it's what we saw earlier in the mall...  the in-store burberry summer-spring ad with kinda disconcerting girl-looking guys...

after thinking about it though, i love how these progressive ads break boundaries, labels and stereotyping (serious).

here's a really nice diesel ad put out last year.  maybe during fleet week...

here's one of tylenol pm.

this is one of my faves.  gotta love them absolut ads!

this one's an ad too but i don't know for what.  so adorable though. hihihi.

even obama joined the bandwagon.  love him.

dito kaya...  rustom?  hihihi.
