beehive building

eyed this building in the sm mall of asia complex... absolutely love it!

could it be sm's? if yes, hard-to-believe but great nonetheless.

it reminds me of this building i love in the single man. can't seem to find a photo/clip of it though.

guess where?

in Megamall!!! its in the new atrium area (which i didn't even know existed), just in front of the new lifts (which take you to the soon-to-rise residences i'm assuming?)...

I say "Shoemart" has come a looong way!

day trip

took a break from repacking to accompany twinpophub on a daytrip up north.

the once-rice-fields-now-lakes are quite disconcerting.

on a lighter note, how cute are these mini pedicabs with motorized li'l pulling person?

it's for kids, yes.  guy on pedicab is the operator of the ride...

notice the public art in the background?

here's more... a bit tacky but better than none...

i'm in the new 'skygarden' in SM north edsa... their answer to trinoma.  (although they're gonna bridge the two together, they say).

chickout the starbucks... pretty cool right?

although ankle-deep water isn't exactly the most relaxing image right now...

yun lang :)  see you soonest. come home na.

pockets of development

had dinner with a guy who works for SM's hamilo coast.

wow, what a project.  the coast is oh, but 5,800 hectares along the batangas coastline -- with 13 coves, one of which is 'pico de loro', claimed to be the BEST beach in batangas.

they have a 20-year plan which includes an airport (!) -- and better yet, they're working with WWF to make sure they're developing greenly.

they're also actually building a coastal HIGHWAY that goes all the way from SM MOA to the area -- bypassing tagaytay.  how cool is that?  so it'll take a li'l over an hour to get to nasugbu.

yey for progress!

divine design

hola, sis.

here's what i meant when i said "negative spaces".  don't you think it's a cool concept for your new set design project?

this is the side of a clothes display module in a store in osaka.  love the non-lamp-post and the shade-in-wall...

speaking of design, i just visited the SM offices yesterday and i loved them!

so spacious, airy, simple and well & naturally lit.  i wanted to take photos but there were too many cctvs inside.

anyway, when i DO have my own center for h.ou.s.e. project, i'd like it to look something like that.

it almost reminds me of the pixar office -- another DREAM office... almost, but of course not quite...

art deco row

wow! bembol rockers rock!!

speaking of an era past, call me weird but i love that row of low-rise buildings along buendia.

it starts from the yupangco (yamaha) building, all the way to edsa.

i love the repetitive lines, the geometric shapes and the overall retro look of the facades.

reminds me of those funky wallpapers in the 70s that seem to have made a come back.

it's just too bad that a lot of the tenants don't take care of the building, like this one dotted with aircon vents.

or worse, some renovate and don't keep up the integrity of the design.

of course, leave it to SM to be part of it...  chickout what BDO did to a building.  so yucky. almost like it's eating up the old beautiful building.

the most recent development of SM are 2 ginormous white shoe-box-ala-megamall type buildings on this row -- both for their call centers.

just wish people here had more architectural sense -- they could have made this row develop into an uber cool lindy locsin-inspired display.

hennes and mauritz

didja hear?  SM is bringing in swedish brand H&M.

THEY say SM is starting to get into luxury/boutique brands.  "since we're landlords to most, why not own the brands as well?" is their thought daw.

although i'm not so hot on the quality of H&M, i just love how they tie up with designers every so often.  last i saw was Madonna's line.

oh and Marimekko's too.

when there are new designers being launched, pinipilahan sa nyc.
