in honor of yale

hey sis,  (is this becoming a monologue? :( )

went to an art gallery earlier today.

looked at some new works by mark j. that just arrived.

this one we can all relate to...

this one's supposedly one about man being consumed in commercialism... to the point that man becomes a commodity himself.  nuk... fingers are freaky dontchatink?

this one's of andres bonifacio, and the key has the kkk flag elements.

this one i liked a lot, it's by joy m. (mark's gf).  i thought first that it was a woman waiting for a love letter -- pero it's about a mail-ordered bride pala.  someone reserved this already.

this one i thought yale would like. it's also by joy.  it's called "bituin".  it has lots of art deco elements, like the star on her head + the chair.

this one ngow likes.  it's a collaboration between mark and joy.  the background is torn pieces

of the cedula.... face is near tears... he's a pinoy in american clothes... now go analyze....

in the gallery, there was a show of amazing works by claire uy.  she's so talented -- almost like a photo realist.

here are some of her works.  most are sold already.

these ones ngow likes. the artist likes drawing laborers.  his technique is really good although the photo doesn't show it.  i told ngow to put it in his office to inspire productivity (woh-ever).

i heart this gallery because they give away free pencils and chocnut.

i heart it even more because they gave us a notebook and a clever "i'm an art fan" fan, both with mark j. prints on it.

on our way out, we saw kids scavenging the trash.  sniff...  what a disparity.
