hey sis,
what are you doing on saturday? just spoke to ats and remembered that its the bookfair this weekend at the smx convention center :) we should go! i kind of remembered all those children's books i've collected from bookwagon years ago! my favorite ones were the ones by Eric Carle and by Robert Kraus. i especially loved Robert Kraus's books because i discovered that the illustrations were all done by Jose Aruego, a Filipino illustrator!
Jose Aruego was a graduate of UP law but went to New York in the 50's to study at Parson's. and he's lived there ever since. his first children's book was published in 1969, "The King and His Friends" (wish i had a copy of that!). he works with pen and ink, and some of his works are rendered by Ariane Dewey (who is actually his former wife).
here are some of my books... remember these?
this one is a Filipino folktale the he both wrote and illustrated...
here's a page from "Milton the Early Riser"...
and of course, my all time favorite.... *sniff*...
.....shall we bookfair? :)
