politix

just watched palin's first public speech as a vp nominee.

she was actually pretty good and didn't have that annoying factor that i think both hillary and gma seem to have...

...not yet at least...

but, in true republican fashion, she was very partisan and pro-war and almost paranoid (with lines like "the world is a dangerous place...")

when will they realize that narrow-mindedness feeds terrorism feeds narrow-mindedness feeds terrorism feeds narrow-mindedness feeds...

the plight against terrorism seemed hopeless, until i read these 2 books which gave light to the whole issue:

a book benazir had finished the day she died.  her main thesis is this (in simple terms):

that if moslem nations become democratic, peace will thrive because democratic nations don't wage war on each other.

and that islam and democracy are actually very much on the same page, contrary to what many (including the extremists) think.

one of the most inspiring books i've EVER read.  it's about an extraordinary guy who, by some twist of fate, devoted his life to build schools for girls in the outskirts of conservative pakistan.

the continuing success of his work inadvertently takes on terrorist-breeding grounds head on.

the guy, greg mortenson, is currently nominated for the nobel peace prize :)

yun lang.
