memory lane

hey sis,

just came back from a trip down memory lane...

the meralco theater! i probably drive past this building so often i forget how beautiful it is, especially the theater inside. i can't even remember the last time i watched something here.

pretty ceiling of the theater lobby...

theater walls...

wall detail...

theater ceiling..

stage...

they don't make buildings like that anymore.

and if the theater isn't a blast from the past in itself... i was there with our bro to watch our favorite childhood musical, WEST SIDE STORY!!!

do you remember how often we used to watch that when we were kids?! we would even bring our two (because the whole movie couldn't fit in one!) betamax tapes to relatives' houses so we could watch it when we got bored in the grown-up parties. i was "action" and you were "anybody" - hahaha! so when our brother said he had free tickets to see west side story, i didn't hesitate at all. the thought of hearing all those songs again, live, got me quite excited. you'd be surprised at how i still know all the songs AND the dialogue in the play! i would catch myself giggling and singing along (with the brother, of course) throughout. haha

remember this dance we used to copy? (tun-tun-tununun...*snap, snap*) hahahaha!

our brother's favorite scene in the play..."the jets are gonna have a day, tonight....tonight, tonight.... anita's gonna get her kicks, tonight.... tonight, tonight".... (of course)

the star of the show was clearly Rowena Vilar, the fil-australian actress who played Anita (my favorite character). she was fantastic! i thought she acted, sang and danced anita to a tee. (FYI her hair in the play last night was done like rita moreno's.)

"a boy like that, he killed your brother.... oh no anita no anita no...."
limewire na ito! hehe
